SUBSCRIBE to the | The 'easy' way to subscribe to the Amber List is to e-mail majordomo@logrus.org (if your browser doesn't support MAILTO: forms, the link won't do you any good) with 'SUBSCRIBE AMBER' in the body of the message, with, I believe, your e-mail address added. |
Put the word "SUBSCRIBE" in the body of the message! Another MAILTO: form. There's a LIST FAQ http://mabarry.kdmcs.com/chaos/index.html that I am somewhat maintaining, being moderator and all. |
|
With less links than my collection, this is still the fastest way to walk through the shadowy Web to the most active of Amber sites.
A site including e-mail, classified ads, polls, links, and more, all devoted to Amber Dicelss on the 'Net.
Now available in French! Or, rather, ONLY available in French! Pardons available.
As created by ArrefMak, this lists a number of Courts of Chaos resources.
The Amber Roleplaying Directory, human moderated and all that. Maybe I'll get around to submitting my sites someday. You know, in all that copious spare time I have.
A site devoted to Greek-language Amber.
I no longer use ICQ, so I don't know if this works, but it does list ICQ#s for several folks interested in Amber.
Jennifer Jerlstrom's |
Jennifer has been providing this resource for years and years. It includes information on net representation, how to get ahold of important Amber-doings-type people, and a lot more. Not 100% accurate, but heck, who is? [Last updated Oct-2001 and my e-mail is still wrong. Oh well, she doesn't know who Purple-Hair is, either.] |
The beginning of what looks like it will be extensive documentation on how to roleplay in IRC. Could be a good resource, now that the Amber Channel IRC pages seem to be down. Written by an Amber gamer: (S. Cooper.) [Last Update: December 1999]
The definitive site for the women of Amber. A continuing collection -- join and contribute!
What if the Elders had their own Web Pages? What would be on them? Some crazy folk decided to put it together -- all in good fun. Very defunct, but still a good resource.
ShadowNet is amusing, thoughtful, and open to contributors. Visit it!
|
Amber
Dictionary |
This is a very useful tool, including characters, items, the like from the Amber books. He has links to some of the graphics that fit the characters best, but I make no claim as to their public domain value. Use at your own risk! |
Summary |
The idea guy for the (now sounding unlikely) Rebma Book [Jason Durall] worked up this here summary of the additional Amber stories as written by Roger Zelazny. Handy in case you can't get ahold of them. Hosted by Andy Ransom. |
Amber
Timeline |
Obviously useful if you're doing a Zelazny-based campaign. (What? Base AMBER on AMBER? Hah!) Contains many spoilers for the books, though, if you haven't read them, why are you checking this out? |
Who's
Who of Amber |
Based on the Zelazny books once again, it does not include the short stories, but does address some of the supplementary material. Made somewhat redundant by Mr. Michailov's Amber Dictionary (above). |
The diced vs. diceless debate has continued, but here's an essay on some of the reasons diceless works.
An example of diceless combat styles, by John Speck and John H. Kim. |
|
Someone noted that I hadn't had any kudos to the originator of the game. I decided to add a link I knew of for it, which includes a small number of Amber DRPG links as well. Very neat site with a quote engine. Also try the Roger Zelazny Page. |
|
Coming soon. Of course, "soon" is not one of those definable terms. But it may be here before Rebma. Maybe. |

Shadowwalker's Guide

Put together for his Strange Bedfellows game, it is an excellent example of a design for the Golden Circle. |
By "Jade", this is a well-developed look at the Courts of Chaos.
A Rebma |
By "Griffen", this is a developed look at Rebma. |
This (Joshua 'Khan' Kubli's) is the much superiour version of a GURPS-Amber sourcebook, and well recommended. If you REALLY must look at the other one, GURPS: AMBER ...the mockery. I hate to be "down on" any site, but how does GURPS MAGE: THE ASCENSION convert to Amber? Still... Check out the Pattern Seeking rules.
Not the site of a scholar, but a site for roleplayers nevertheless. Good resource for names. You might also look at Behind the Name. Or you might invest in a decent baby names book!
ArrefMak is a top-notch writer of Amber-DRPG related essays, and he does some mean graphics work, too. Be amazed. |
|
An excellent introduction into the mindset. You will also want to try Doyce Testerman's Collection of Essays on:
Mike "Epoch" Sullivan's collection of Amber Tips for GM and players.
| |
From a campaign run by Doyce "Bear" Testerman, 90% of the details designed by Scott Herndon, this is a remarkably complete and eminently useful collection of ideas.
A rant on the futility of our desires. |
| An article which draws a parallel between the cosmos of Amber to suburbia. | |
| Remember that it is translated from English to Japanese and back again... | |
Aunt Flora answers your etiquette questions! |
|
Amber WorldWeaver's site. Interactive fiction writing, continuing story kind of deal, with all sorts of information (including a good FAQ) about the series and dealing with it in this particular environment.
It looks very neat! | |
A database of people and places in Amber for portable devices. Amber at your fingertips?
The legality of this is questionable, so download at your own risk. There are some interesting bits in the manual.
AMBER BLOGS | MaBarry's Mostly Amber Blog |
MUSHes, ETC.
They're fun, but they're big, and time consuming. They've produced a gorgeous amount of work that can be adapted to other Amber games, including insights into characters, maps, Houses, and much, much more.
Read the FAQs, garner information from the news files, and someday I may have the time to be more extensive about this.
